Hello Everyone!
Welcome - to all of you that we see in our little store here in Duvar. We are feeling gratified that you like our soap well enough to come back
for more, and some of you always find it fun to try out whatever soap is new!
Welcome – to all of you that we are getting to know better as we
see you across the island; sometimes at this craft fair, or that one; we are feeling like we are gaining lots of new friends.
Welcome – to all of you that we have met this year and are just starting
to get to know. For instance, we’ve just been to “The Lazy Fish” at Morell, and now you'll be able tp pick up some of our soap there. The store is opening this month (February), and they already have a very nice variety of lovely items in their store.
And when the weather is warmer, you will be able to indulge in an ice cream cone, or a banana split or sundae on your way through to St. Peter’s Bay. They’re located right on St. Peter’s Rd. not too far from the Co-op.
This is the time of year when Dennis starts making soap for the summer. Soap needs to cure for at least thirty days, so he has to plan ahead.
This is also when he starts thinking about what new kinds to make. It’s always fun to see what he comes up with. We’ll let you know – when we know :)
A new soap we did last fall was “Spearmint Lavender”. I don't think Dennis was quite sure about it when I first asked him to make some, but someone at a craft fair had told me that they had once gotten that kind of soap from somewhere and they had loved it. I think Dennis was thinking "Lavender and Peppermint?” when I first mentioned it, but I said, “No, Spearmint isn't exactly like Peppermint, not exactly, it has to be Spearmint.”
So he made a batch of 70 bars and it was gone within a month. He’s made some more now, it’s in the process of curing and will be ready soon,
you might want to try some, for sure.
Tomorrow is the first day of February so there’s a bit of winter left, but then we’ll be rolling towards spring, won’t that be nice!
Hope your winter is going well,
Teresa and Dennis
